In many chemical processes gases are dissolved in water, this is called absorption, an exothermic process. Gases, such as HCl gas, are processed in this way for storage, purification or simply to use it in chemical reactions.
There are two HCl absorption processes depending on the HCl concentration in the feed gas:
- falling film absorber
- adiabatic absorption
