CASE STUDY: AN ASSEMBLED SKID TO THE PHARMACEUTICAL MARKET
One of the leading, global manufacturers of specialized pharmaceutical products contacted Mersen because of their concern for corrosion issues in a new product they were beginning to manufacture.
Context
They were considering Graphite columns and PTFE lined piping for their new product and contacted Mersen. They were not aware of Mersen’s ability to design and build other complete turn key systems than the ones for producing HCL for the chlor-alkali market and had intended only for Mersen to supply the equipment.
Choice of Mersen
Skidded system including process and control design, equipment, skid design and assembly, are the norm for the Pharma market, so the customer was pleased to learn that Mersen was more than just an “equipment supplier”, and had the necessary internal resources to design and construct skid mounted systems and had a “track record” of successful references, globally.
Those key requirements enabled Mersen to be considered as a qualified supplier for a new organic distillation system and Mersen was awarded the order for multiple skid mounted distillation columns.
A significant reference
This will be Mersen’s first significant reference in supplying a skid mounted systems to the Pharma market.
The Pharma market is particularly interesting since there is a continuous stream of new Pharma products resulting from extensive research spending.
